[Updated] Shigeru Miyamoto NOT Stepping Down from Current Position

[UPDATED]
Looks like someone at Wired messed up big time! Nintendo has issued multiple statements flat out denying the claim that Shigeru Miyamoto is changing positions at Nintendo. They say it was a complete mistranslation, and that Miyamoto was simply trying to convey that he wants to focus more on training the younger development staff.

Original Story
In a recent interview with Wired, famed video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto (responsible for the creation of Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong, Pikmin, The Legend of Zelda, and countless other beloved games) has revealed that he plans to step down from his current position as Senior Managing Director and General Manager at Nintendo's Entertainment Analysis and Development Division in favor for a position that will allow him to work more directly with smaller projects.

"What I really want to do is be in the forefront of game development once again myself," stated Miyamoto, who says he wants to move away from enormous projects like The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, leaving them to younger Nintendo employees and pursuing smaller projects himself. He suggested he might want to work on a small project with younger employees, and perhaps even a project he could work on just by himself. "In other words, I’m not intending to start from things that require a five-year development time," he said, noting that he'd like to begin such a project as early as 2012.

So while it's sad to hear Mr. Miyamoto will be stepping down from his current position, it's also exciting to hear that he is not retiring and in fact wants to once again be in a position where he can directly lead smaller projects. Sounds like good news to me! Be sure to read all the details over at Wired.

Britains most respected gaming magazine - Edge - have reviewed The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword in their upcoming 25th Anniversary of The Legend of Zelda magazine and have awarded the latest Zelda game an outstanding 10/10.

Edge magazine have rarely given out the top mark in the past - games that have got this score in the past have been titles such as Super Mario 64, Super Mario Galaxy, Halo, Half life 2 and not forgetting another Zelda title - The Ocarina of Time.

In about a month we can soon see if it's worthy of such a score!
